Several years ago, most of us never dreamed of receiving major software updates for our phones. Rogers Wireless is one of several carriers that is struggling to keep their Android phones up to date.
We recently reported that several HTC phones might be stuck on the outdated Android 1.5, but it appears the problem is much more complex than we originally thought.
If for some reason it hangs on SAMSUNG startup, repeat step 6 above but choose the left option (instead of download mode), and do a factory reset, and reboot the tablet after.

One Rogers customer, Michael Schmidt, was so upset with the lack of urgency from his carrier that he launched his own website to bring attention to the issue.
I Want My One Point Six is an effort to demand Android 1.6 for the Rogers HTC Dream, HTC Magic, and recently launched LG Eve. Schmidt did his research and came to similar conclusions we have offered in the past.
Extract the MD5 file on the folder where you placed Odin. Run Odin as Administrator, tick on PDA, and choose the firmware file (extension is MD5). Odin will take a minute or so to process the firmware. While tablet still off, plug the USB cable on the samsung connector on the tablet. Using the VOLUME DOWN button, move the highlight to the "Download Mode" (the right option), and press VOLUME UP button to choose it, and Continue after the warning. Now connect the other end of the USB cable on the PC where Odin is waiting.
Turn on the tablet by holding POWER and the VOLUME DOWN button to enter the recovery.
